Our instructor will start with plenty of shore time walking beginning kayakers through types of kayaks, necessary safety equipment, personal floatation devices, etc. If you are considering a kayak purchase and want more information, this is a great place to begin. The highlight of the lesson will be a paddle around Somers Bay where you can practice basic kayak strokes and practice your skills. Questions encouraged!

What we love about Flathead Lake

As the largest natural freshwaterlake west of the Mississippi, Flathead Lake’s expansive shores, wild islands and wide water make for a paddler’s paradise. This isn’t any old lake. Wildlife, native plants, and unique habitat types meet native cultures and relics of early white settlers to offer an experience that you can’t duplicate anywhere else.

Since most of its water is coming directly from National Park and protected wilderness land, Flathead’s clarity and quality is some of the best in the world. And the ring of mountains around the shore only adds to the experience. On the lake, it’s no different. With Wild Horse Island’s beauty, natural impact and cultural significance, it’s no wonder that this is one of our most popular tours. Somers Bay at the north shore is one of the most protected areas of the lake, typically a calm place for all ages to paddle, and you’ll find a whole lot of history packed into a small area. From north to south, you’ll find a deep diversity of experiences to explore.

With such a large body of water (covering 191.5 square miles, to be precise), paddling conditions are reminiscent of more open water with bays and inlets, islands and other features combined with wind and depth to create a unique climate. Currents can be strong in some parts of the lake, wind can bring up impressive waves, and each section offers up its own unique environment and appeal. Our experienced staff know the ins and outs of reading the weather and what it means for conditions, working hard to keep all our customers safe and having a blast!

Beautiful and Bustling

Whitefish Lake

Sea Me Paddle also offers rentals at Whitefish Lake State Park, which shows a different view of the valley. Just at the edge of the town of Whitefish, this large lake measures about a mile wide and seven miles long. You can see the ski runs at Whitefish Mountain Resort trailing down the side of Big Mountain at the north end of the lake, and the forested shore offers a secluded feeling. Paddlers and other boaters enjoy time out on the water here at the site of a past glacial flow, taking in the mountain views and fresh air.

Winter Tours in

Glacier Park

guided tour glacier national park

We offer tours in Glacier National Park through our sister company, Glacier Treks Outdoor Adventures. Venture to Glacier National Park and the more than a million acres of mountains, trees, lakes and animals. Ninety-five percent of this national treasure is wilderness area waiting to be explored.

During the winter months in Glacier National Park the summer crowds have long since cleared and the park is blanketed in snow, just waiting for fresh snowshoe and ski tracks!

All four seasons are magical in the park, with spring and summer wildflowers and wildlife, fall’s first snow and quieter crowds, and winter hush and icy beauty. And as more and more people are in on the secret of Glacier National Park, winter season is still the hidden spice.

Though you can’t drive the full length of the Going-to-the-Sun Road in winter, Glacier is still very much open for visitors. With hefty snow pack and seasonal road closures, the best way to get a look at snow-covered peaks and seek out signs of winter wildlife is on skis or snowshoes.
